A tale told by Buddhist about a greedy crane and a smart crab.

In the story, the crane had tricked the fishes and eventually he ate them. He acted nice and proposed to the fishes to save them from the drought by transferring them to a better new pond using his beak, this earned a suspicious looks from the fishes but they eventually agreed to the crane’s proposal after the crane proven himself trust-able (he brought one fish to the beautiful pond then bring him back to the old pond, who then telling the others the beauty of the new pond).

The crane transferred the fishes one by one using his beak. But, instead of stopping on the pond, he flew to the tree on the shore of the new pond and eat the fish in his beak, leaving the bones scattered on the ground.

After eating all the fishes, the crane saw a crab, and as a greedy animal he was, he suggested the same thing to the crab. Seeing the fulled stomach of the crane, the crab had no doubt that the crane ate all the fishes.

Thus, the crane formed a new plan to grabbed onto the crane’s neck with all his legs and claws, the stupid conceited crane agreed to this. Just like usual, the crane flew to the tree instead of the shore but unlike before, the crab voiced out their position and threatened to cut the crane’s neck. The crane, then, realized his dangerous situation, he flew to the shore and begged the crab to spare his life. But, the crab having none of that, he cut the crane’s neck.
